(SOLVED) Console

Post by gerdesj »

I have just downloaded and installed the appliance (13.1.1.118) on a Proxmox box. I pointed my browser at it and selected the link to download the console, which I installed.

I point the newly installed console at the appliance and am informed that an update is required. It wants to update from 13.1.0.411 -> 13.1.1.18 (Download size 868.1MB). I hit the update button and after the elevation prompt, I get: "The SSL connection could not be established, see inner exception"

I have found a log called AutoUpdate<datestamp>.log, which implies that the SSL cert presented by the appliance is untrusted. However I had accepted it on initial connection. I'll fiddle around with the SSL trust store on this PC for a while but my real query is: Why was I not delivered the later version in the first place? I also note that console version 13.1.0.411 is the latest available in the downloads section of my Veeam account.

All I want to do is setup a demo for a customer and so far it does not look good.

EDIT:

Workaround: Run the console as the user that will do the update. That user gets to "trust" the certificate and the SSL error goes away.

The UI for updates might want to offer to "trust" the certificate presented as well. Also, why isn't the latest version installed in the first place?

Hi Jon,

We provide a standalone installer for the console for the latest minor or major version, but not for smaller patch releases such as v13.1.1.18. This has been an ongoing discussion for quite some time (you will find existing topics with the forum search). We understand the request to always have the most recent console available for deployment, whether from the ISO, the Web UI, or our download center.
However, it is unlikely that we will provide such an installer for smaller patch releases, given our current focus on the Web UI. The best scenario for our customers would be that they no longer need the console as soon as possible.

Best,
Fabian
