Dear all
Does it make a difference if a Windows Server VM is suspended when I back it up vs if it was not suspended?
Will the restore to a renamed and/or relocated VM be in the latest state i.e. whatever was saved just before suspending?
Using v11 with ESXi 6.7
Thanks
Alexis

Re: Backup a Suspended VM on ESXi
Hello Alexis,
It makes no difference. Can you please elaborate your case?Does it make a difference if a Windows Server VM is suspended when I back it up vs if it was not suspended?
Yes, but it will be restore as powered off VM (unless you set to power on the VM after recovery in the recovery properties). Will the restore to a renamed and/or relocated VM be in the latest state i.e. whatever was saved just before suspending?

Re: Backup a Suspended VM on ESXi
Hi Dima
Thank you for your answers. The case with suspended VMs is just frequently occurring and I wanted to ensure that the backup captures the latest saved state before the suspend was initiated.
Case closed.
