backup move

Post by MarcinS »

Hello,

we have some backup in some repository (lets call it A) of vmware vm which already not exist in vcneter . We want to move it (backup data) to repository (B). How we can proceed ? I tested "Backup COpy " but it not move backup as it was done many days ago. Is only manual copy possible (from file system level) ?

Second mine question is also about backup copy ....its move last backup so in our example when i have another vm with full bck + 3 next incr. When i start it it move away last incremental. What sense it have to have incremental without full ? Why veeam allow to do it ?

regards
Marcin

You can copy backups manually and perform a rescan of the new repository to let VBR know files are there. Do you have backup jobs associated with those files? Here is a related KB article.

Backup copy job creates a restore point based on all new source backups rather than copying just the last increment. Please take a look at the provided links.
Thanks!

ok thx ...but i have sub-question. I have on source repository VM with 5 restore points (Full + Inc + Inc + Inc +Full) ...and i want to move to new repository only last Full. How to do it by manual move files ?

When i copy only last FUll (vbk file) veeam not recognize it ...if i move last full (vbk file) plus vbm file then veeam recognize it but show that in new location i have all 5 backups moved (it take info probably from vbm file) when in real i have only 1 (last full)

You can move the latest VBK file manually and import it in to Veeam B&R console. It will be shown under Imported node.
