Backup standard

Post by s.jullien » Sep 18, 2019 9:32 am

Good morning all, i ask myself the following question, i need to create a backup job with the following retention policy :
7 daily, 4 weekly, 12 monthly and x yearly ...so what is the good practice ?

create a backup copy job with GFS on the same repository or create a job by retention policy ?
Thanks in advance !

Hi Jullien and welcome to the Veeam community!

You should create a backup job and use it as a source for a backup copy job with the desired retention + GFS policy.
Please keep in mind you cannot target the same repository for both jobs.

Thanks!

Thank you for your reply. I will create a job with 7 retention points and a copy job with 7 restore points, 4 weekly, 12 monthly ans 20 yearly. Is it correct ?

That's correct.
You can always reduce or increase the amount of RPs to keep later.
I'd recommend reviewing the existing thread about GFS Retention for additional information. Thanks!
