Hey guys,
I'm pretty sure it's been asked multiple times but the answer always seem to be "it depends on this or that" so let me ask again and hope for a simple straight forward answer =)
I have multiple backup strategy already in place and would like to add a backup job to take 1 full backup every Tuesday to an external drive in a 2 drives rotation (week 1-3-5-7,etc & week 2-4-6-8, etc). Knowing a full backup is going to take a while with close to 3TB, I was thinking of taking the synthetic full with incremental route aka 1 synthetic on Tuesdays and incrementals on the next 6 days. How would I set this up?
- Backup destination set to rotated drives (option checked)
- Retention policy = 7 (6 incrementals converted to 1 synthetic aka 7 days?)
- Backup strategy set to Incremental
- Synthetic full option checked and set to Tuesdays
- Schedule set to start everyday at 00:30 to be outside of other backup jobs
External drive switched every Thursday morning as this is when i'm on site. (Synthetics take close to or above 24 hours)
Is it configured properly for what I want to do?

Re: Backups to external HDD
Just to check, do you need to have a full week's worth of backups on each of the rotated drives (with the ability to restore to any day of the week) or just a single full restore point as of Tuesday?
