Hello,
after extending the disk size of a VM, the VMware replication job of the machine gave a warning that if I understood well is related to an expected behaviour:
"3/18/2023 4:15:54 AM :: VM disk size changed since last sync, deleting all restore points"
However, the problem is with the "calculating digests" step that is taking a very long time (2,6TB the size of the disk and 75% calculatedi in 55 hours): is this a sort of full resync?
What "calculating digests" step does? How can I understand what is the root cause of the slowness of the process?
Many thanks,
db

Re: Calculating digest is taking a long time during VMware replication
Because the disk size has changed the replica is no longer valid so it will delete all the restore points.
It then has to compare the replica against the source VM. This is the calculating digests portion and this refreshes the metadata / CBT information.

Re: Calculating digest is taking a long time during VMware replication
Is there a quicker way to do this instead of allowing Veeam to ?
currently Veeam has been calculating digest on a 9TB for over 15 hours and only at 77%
If I extend a partition of the original VM and then go into VMware and delete all the replication VM snapshots using VMware, will this allow Veeam to run through its processes faster?
