Changing the IP of a NAS (repository)

Post by marius roma »

A NAS is currently used as a B&R 7.0 repository and is addressed with the IP address, let's say \\192.168.1.100\share1
I need to change the IP address, so it will be let's say \\10.10.10.100\share1
What is the simplest way to make the change keeping the existing jobs and the existing backup files?
In other words, I need to make the change but I need to let the existing jobs go on.
Please consider that many backup jobs are incremental.
Can I edit the existing repository? I don't see the option to change the share folder name...
Should I add a new repository? Can I tell the jobs to go on and to use the new share?
Regards
Marius

Hello Marius,
changing IP address of your backup repository should not be a problem, assuming you have everything configured via FQDN/hostnames.
Make sure DNS server has the address table renewed. Thanks.

For the posted example however seems Mario is mapping the SMB share via IP address. In this case you still can reconnect the repository with the new IP, and then you can edit the existing jobs to point to the "new" repository, and use the mapping feature to keep using the existing backup chain. Some of the procedures are explained in:
