Christmas wish

Post by larry »

While it is Christmas a wish of mine is to allow Veeam to pick a new VM id to replace an old. When replacing a VC, replacing a VM with a clone or any other task that makes the VM id change have Veeam pull up a pick list of VMs to say change VM ID to this picked one. This way when we make a change where the VM ID change we could just tell Veeam where the VM is now (pick list). I understand the need to reset CBT but it still would be much better than adding the new VM and removing old VM data in a few weeks. This way my reports will show all the restore points.
Some items to think about
A full restore from before an ID changed.
A times lots of VM ID changes occur at once. (new VC)

There is a better way to track VMs that should remove the need for this, but it is only supported on more recent vSphere versions. I am planning to switch to that as we drop support for earlier platforms.
