combining "local veeam frontend" and "remote backup job" ?

Hello,
I could finally convince my storage colleagues to replace TSM / Spectrum Protect server scheduled backups (with local client frontend for individual data restore) with veeam daily backup jobs.
I know about the possibility to give end users / IT service teams access to these backups over the Enterprise Manager web frontend. But that's not really an option for providing the availability of individual data restore to as good as everybody.
(Or am I wrong there?)

Now I was wondering if it would be possible to genereally install veeam Agent as frontend without configuring jobs - and so using this as a frontend for individual data restore from the job triggered backups?
Is there any way to realize a combination of a local frontend on VM servers for managing veeam job backups - only for restore, not for creating new?

I hope I could sufficently explain what I'm trying to do ...

Hi Stefan

No, that's not possible. Veeam Agent cannot do FLR restores from VM backup jobs by connecting to the VBR server.

You can configure scopes in the Enterprise Manager, if you want to allow only specific servers for the service teams.

End Users with admin permission on a VM can use the self-service portal of our enterprise manager:

End Users without admin permissions can do their own restores from files they have access if you use Veeam Agent for Windows to back up the VM:

Hello Stefan,
I am not aware of the Veeam Agent for Windows to behave like this, it is either fully managed by Veeam Backup & Replication, or managed by the agent, which will give them this local frontend visibility you say, but they can still create other jobs, etc. Besides restore of course.

Enterprise Manager is really clean, and you cna be really granular to what you want to give them access to restore, files (including some especific extensions only), a full VM restore, etc.

I would totally explore the Enterprise Manager, do a small POC and training session to the guys, and grab feedback.

Okay, thank You. That's what I supposed myself. But perhaps I had missed there some options.
Concerning the granular rights and visibility in Enterpise Manager - if I didn't miss the news: normal users can see everything, but can only manage those VMs for which the have access rights in vSphere.
Is it correct or was it just the behaviour in veeam ONE and I'm confounding this?

The last time I was playing around with veeam Enterprise Manager restore options, we wrote version 8.x if I remember well ...
So, I really didn't know that windows permissions were identified in the actual releases. shame on me! That's what I was missing years ago - or I always did it wrong ...

But so, all is perfect. I just tried it out. That's all what I need and it is much smarter than installing another software as frontend. Nice - I really love it!
