Did everyone move to 9 already?

Post by jbarrow.viracoribt »

Still on 8, thinking about moving to 9. Any major bugs or issues that I should be aware of?

Hello Jonathan,
While other users share their experience, you can review a related thread of people upgraded to v9.
Thanks!

Our small environment (50 VMs) moved to v9 about 3 weeks ago. We run vSphere 5.1 and have experienced no problems. Got some nice storage savings from the ability to exclude deleted file blocks from the backups.

50000+ v9 downloads and no major bugs reported so far, but of course there are still bugs as with any big release. At this point you may as well wait for Update 1 before upgrading, as this should be out by the end of the month. Thanks!

Hi Jbarrow,

You may have a look at the Veeam helpcenter, BitLooker and Dirty Blocks are the buzzwords:

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/backup/vsp ... locks.html

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/backup/vsp ... usion.html

These functions can save some space, but may require a little more time to process.

Did just notice what may be a bug.

We run a tape job every night, after the job runs it emails my helpdesk so they can pull the tapes and ship them offsite. The email that arrived this AM showed the backup was successful, but no tapes used. Then you go into Veeam and look at the job and it shows 3 tapes were used. Maybe a one-off issue or could be a bug in the email template?

Jonathan,
That may be a bug. Please contact the support team for the investigation.

By the way, if you have a topic to discuss which is not related to the current subject, please start a separate discussion on the forum. Thanks!
