Disable Application Aware Processing when adding whole datacenter to the job

Post by Frank.Kuhn »

Hey Folks,

maybe you can help me with an issue.
On some backup jobs we adding the whole VMWare datacenter as source for a backup job and enabling application aware processing to not forget new VMs.
But sometimes we have some Linux VMs which does not need the AAP - because of some reasons. No discussion about that - it is like it is

But I didn't find a way to disable the AAP when the whole datacenter is the source.

Any ideas about that or do we have to choose every single VM for the backup and then disabling the AAP?

Many thanks in advance.

Hello Franl

Welcome to the forum.
You can add your datacenter as a source and then configure guest processing exclusions for single VMs:

1. Enable AAP
2. Click on Applications
3. Add a single VM
4. Click on the VM in the list
5. Click on Edit (You can select multiple VMs to do bulk edit)
6. Disable application processing for the selected VM/VMs

You could also use vSphere Tags to disable AAP for all VMs with a specific Tag.

Well.... i would not call it "exclusion" but you need to add the VM,Folder or Ressourcepool again and reconfigure it to the settings you want. The config with the "least" options wins :)

We do it in the same way.
