Morning all!
It often happens that, when customers send me mails with error logs, one type of error shows up very often when it's "synthetic full backup day" or even "full backup day".
And if at first it failed, after the next retry it succedeed automatically. It happens with both VB&R 9.5 and 10.
I'm talking about:
Agent: Failed to process method {Transform.CompileFIB} + Unexpected network error + Failed to read data from the file //network+SMB+path
Backup repository is always, with this error, a share folder on a NAS.
I've already search issues on network side, but without finding any.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Re: Error type: Failed to process method {Transform.CompileFIB} Unexpected network error: Failed to read data from the f
Hi Marco
VB&R 9.5 is end of support and should be updated as soon as possible.
Synthetic full requires you to read blocks from previous backup files and send them back as a new full backup file. The data will be transferred twice over network. With Active Full data is only transferred once.
Also consider placing the Gateway Server as near as possible to the shared folder. If the Gateway Server doesn't have a fast and stable network connection to the shared folder, you may face such issues related to the bad connection to the shared folder.
If changing your environment to the recommended design for shared folders doesn't help, please open a support case and let us know the case number for our reference.
Best,
Fabian

For shared folder backup repositories, you should use active full backups instead of synthetic full.Backup repository is always, with this error, a share folder on a NAS.

Gotcha! I'll give a try with going from synthetic to active full and see if error disappears!
Thanks Detective Mildur

Are you also experiencing the same issue? If so, what are your version and support ticket numbers? Thanks!
