Exclude folders for a Linux VM backup

Dear,

I have a big Linux VM I need to backup but some folders must be excluded from the backup.
First I have created a new backup job for this VM, I have enabled Application aware processing and I have define which folders to exclude in the Exclusions tab.
During the first run of the job, I noted that file exclusions were skipped.
Looking at the documentation, I realized that this option was only available for NTFS files.

So could you provide me another way to backup this VM without excluded folders?

Can you move unneeded folders to a separate virtual disk and exclude it from processing? Thanks!
