Hello,

Im looking to implement a simple backup plan to a new role I've joined- the current backup situation hasnt been followed and is a bit of a mess,

Simple Mon - Sat incremental = Sun active full- Last Week of the month to tape

7 day retention - can I just backup the last chain to tape? will this suffice,

Any advice on the above/ tips for a newbie,

Yes you can. Please check "Proccess latest full backup chain only" check box.

mm rats- our company doesnt use Veeam enterprise barring me from this option....

What I've done in the latest backup to tape was include latest from the month prior including fulls the incrementals,

Could anyone advise if I'm doing the right strategy based on the above?

I'm not sure that I understand your goals. Do you want to have a 7 days of backups and have them copied to tape once a month? Or do you want to implement a 30 days long forever-forward incremental backup chain so that the very last week of it goes to tape every month? Please elaborate.

Hello,

We have Mon - Sat incrementals then an active full on a sunday every week - the last active full of the month then goes to tape- we normally just leave the last 2 weeks on disk to roll back on incase of any issues.

Since you're limited to usage of files to tape job (the only type of tape job available in Standard edition), feel free to leverage approach described here. Thanks.
