How does on reset the format for job reports?

Post by danswartz »

I inadvertently clicked on wordpad, and the report format is now garbage. I've been looking high and low and can't find anywhere that describes how to reset it...

Not really a Veeam issue :)

Yeah, I know about that. What I don't know is what the default for the veeam job report should be :(

I think I'm not being clear. Okay, html is the extension, but what is the application. Veeam B&R? I understand you can set an app so a particular extension will cause that app to handle it, but this is the opposite, no? e.g. I click on the job report link and it spawns a wordpad window with '.txt'? Sorry, not a windows jock here...

Sure, let's make sure we're talking about the same thing.

I am imaging what you get when you right-click a job and select "report", as noted here: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110

Is this what you're referring to?

If so, it's just a normal HTML file with data; pick your favorite browser and open it from the above link.

If you are thinking of something else, can you show how you get it?

No that's precisely it. The entire problem: I right click on a job, and a context menu pops up. If I click on "Report", it launches Wordpad. IIRC I was given an option to change the default and somehow messed up and selected wordpad. What I'm trying to do: reset B&R so that clicking on "Report" does what it did before I messed up. Is that clearer? I am not being given the option of choosing a browser or anything else. The moment I click on "Report", I get the wordpad document.

Aha, try it with the link I posted -- Windows does a lot of goofiness with this, so first let me say I sympathize with your annoyance on this; somehow this can be a pain in the ass on Windows for no good reason.

Work through this -- Veeam just prompts to open the HTML file I bet and likely somewhere there's a wrong association on your OS; you might need to get into the registry. I had to battle with this on a template we used to get notepad++ to open a specific text file format by default, as it wouldn't work through the UI.

Bless you, that did the trick. '.html' got pointed at wordpad. Amusingly, '.htm' was still pointing at Internet Exploder.
