Assuming that the transport mode is set to Network, and the proxy assignment is automatic, what are the steps Veeam goes through to assign the proxy for a backup job?
Cheers, Rob.

Re: How does Veeam choose which proxies to assign
As mentioned in our VMware FAQ on proxies (question 5), if multiple proxies with network mode are available,
VBR picks the least busy one considering its subnet.
Cheers, Oleg

Re: How does Veeam choose which proxies to assign
Thanks for the FAQ pointer Oleg. Can you expand on the subnet selection for me please. Which subnet needs to match the Veeam proxy subnet - is it the IP address of the server being backed up, the ESXi host address or something else?

Re: How does Veeam choose which proxies to assign
Hi Robert,
It's about ESXi subnet because in Network mode data is retrieved via the ESXi host over LAN.
Thanks!

Re: How does Veeam choose which proxies to assign
I've run some more tests, and Veeam doesn't seem to always follow these rules. I've logged a case with support (04272817) so we can go through it in more detail and work out what I'm not seeing.
