We're in the process of changing domains on one site. We have two sites, each with B&R server, local repository & tape server roles, proxy VMs & WAN-X's.
(Let's say Site A is changing, Site B is staying as-is)
Each site copies/replicates to the other & the tape server role for each site is "owned" by the B&R server on the site that's migrating domains.
So, I'm trying to understand the impact of changing the domain membership of they key roles? I'm not to worried about basic proxy VMs as I treat them as almost disposable anyway, but I do have a VM on each that also holds the WAN-X role.
Main thing I'm concerned with is how to handle things like the repository/tape server changing domain? The B&R server is just that, in a VM so doesn't hold any of the other roles so I'm guessing there's no specific impact there.
Any advice/pointers/existing references welcomed...

Re: Impact of migration of Veeam roles to new domain
Hi Paul, the only impact I can imagine is if the server was added to Veeam B&R UI via its DNS name, you would need to reflect its change in the database.

Re: Impact of migration of Veeam roles to new domain
Apologies, I'm just coming back to this now.
Looking at the detail it seems that for the site that is changing domains, everything except the Backup server itself has been added using "short" name (i.e. "servername" rather than "servername.my.domain".
I took a look at your referenced link, but also took a look at the server properties itself (within the console) and it APPEARS that I can actually rename the (B&R) server to short-name format. Is it safe to do so?
If I do that, then so long as I clear any DNS caches etc. then hopefully at switchover they should resolve to the new domains? IP addresses won't be changing.
I think I'll actually test it with a disposable proxy server first & see what happens. Will report back...

Looks like it should work the way you describe, will appreciate sharing the results of your testing.
