Hi,
Is there any reason why I cant install B&R on a repository server which already has the agents installed? The server in question is usually used as a storage location for backups.
Reason for doing this is in a DR scenario it would give the ability to restore if the main backup server was not available.
Thanks!

Re: Installing B&R on a repository server?
Hi Robert, provided both servers are at the same Veeam B&R patch level and the second instance of Veeam B&R is going to be used in case of DR only, this shouldn't cause any serious issues. Just note that both instances will not be aware of each other and the load (think concurrent tasks) they assign to the server in question.

The main point here is that you can not write into the same repository from both of them, while you can use the second B&R for restore processing without issues (rescan the repository to get latest changes to the UI).

Re: Installing B&R on a repository server?
Thanks Foggy and Andreas!
Yes thats exactly what it would be for. 99% of the time the server is just a repository and B&R wont be needed. Would just be in a disaster scenario when the backups would need to be restored without the original B&R backup server being available.
I just wanted to check that having B&R installed wouldnt affect the already installed veeam agent and the backups.

Re: Installing B&R on a repository server?
Yes, it would not affect it unless you start any workload on the B&R Server there. Then both B&R Servers are not aware of the others workload and could overutilize memory/CPU/...
There is one hard requirement and this is to keep both B&R Versions at exat same version/update/patch level.
