Dear all,
we are using VEEAM Backup and Replicaiton to do daily job backup and hourly replication.
we are using Gen10 HPE server.
We are moving our HPE to new Gen10 full SSD and want to do this during the evening.
we are running ESXI 7.0 as Hypervisor and vCenter 7.0.
my idea of doing this migration is :
when the backup is done at night 22:00, want to shut the server down and restore it directly to the new Gen10 server.
is this the best idea of doing this?
any suggestions are appreciate it.

Re: migration to new host
Are you just replacing the underlying storage or server as a whole? Either way you can add the new system as additional datastore or host, migrate existing VMs to it using Storage or Host vMotion and decommission the old system. Thanks!

Re: migration to new host
Hey Jamerson/Julien,
Not sure the goal is fully understood, probably due to some gaps in the information you provided.
1) we are using VEEAM Backup and Replication to do daily job backup and hourly replication. (As a VM on the Gen10 running ESXi 7, or Windows installed on Gen10 with Veeam installed?)
2) When you state "when the backup is done at night 22:00, want to shut the server down and restore it directly to the new Gen10 server." Do you mean restore all the VMs on the Host if it's ESXi, or Veeam on Bare Metal?
Depending on your setup will determine different steps to complete the goal, as well as fully understanding the goal. Otherwise Vlad's response is good.

Re: migration to new host
Thank you we have got this sorted out by using vmotion and moved the vm across the hosts.
