Moving backup copies to new repo

Hi,

We have an issue where we want to move a backup copy job to a new repo. The original copy job was a legacy job. We are running v12. Case # 07201850.

As per Veeam KBs:

- We created a new backup copy job.
- We detached the old backups from the original job and it went to orphaned.
- We upgraded the backup chain.
- On the new backup copy job, we mapped it to the original backup copies.
- Ran the new backup copy job and it ran as incremental and finished successfully.

Veeam support said to remove the orphaned job from configuration, manually move the original files to the new repo, then rescan the repo. They then said to use the "move" function to move the new backup copy job to the new repo.

My question is:

If this process is followed - Will the new job continue the new chain as incremental (as it is currently doing?)

Hi @xpose,

If the Backup Copy is already working with the upgraded chain, then the Move Backup operation will not impact the current operations, and once the move is completed, it will resume as normal.

For the Legacy Backup Copy chains, see the limitations here for the Move Backup operation, as with non-upgraded chains you'll need to follow a different set of steps:

I see that there is a remote session scheduled with Support to help clear some of the remaining questions, so I advise continue with Support to clarify the remaining questions.
