Hi!
We are in the process of replacing all our existing vsphere servers, with new servers.
Today we have 6 hosts in production and 3 hosts used for test and development vm's.
(We take backups from all 9 hosts).
We have a 20 cpu socket license, so as it is, we have 2 licenses not "in use".
The issue is that we need to take backups of the vms that has been moved to the new environment, while still backing up the remaining vm's still running in the old environment.
It feels a bit "excessive/un-economic" to buy licenses for $20.000 that will just be used temporarily until all the vms are moved, and the old servers can be decommisioned.
Does anyone have a good solution for this case?

Re: Moving to new vsphere environment - licensing
Hi, Jannis,
With this type of question it's better to reach your sales representative, as this a technical community which members are not necessarily versed in license sales' aspects.
As far as I know, we do have a way to address similar scenarios by cutting trial license for limited time period - but as I've said, kindly, contact the sales representative to get further assistance.
Thanks!
