proxy veeam remote office

Post by mporliod »

Good morning I wanted some advice, I have a central office where I have a vmware farm consisting of two hosts with the virtual veeam server.
Then I have two other smaller offices where each office has a vmware host and a qnap as a repository.
the only veeam server that orchestrates backups is located in the main office.
remote office backups will reside in their local repositories, the offices are connected to the main office via mpls.
my question is: if I install a proxy server on each host of the remote offices I can use them exclusively for jobs that concern the backup of local data of the remote offices only, because I don't want to use the proxies present in the central office.

thank

Hi Massimiliano,

Sure you can.
- Add a proxy per site
- Create a backup job(s) per site
- In job settings make sure to select site-local Proxy Server to use(in most cases it will work Automatically just fine, but just in case, let's work it Manual selection).

Depending on site-local Repository type, you might also want to set correct Gateway Servers.

That should do the trick!

In the case of a NAS repo, it is typically the proxy itself.
