Quick Migration - low processing rate

Post by eisback »

Hi, we need to move about 20 VMs via quick migration from server A (ESXi 6.5) to server B (ESXi 7.03). Both servers are in the same rack, connected via two GBit switches. Each server has a local SAS storage (Source RAID-10 and Target RAID-6). Yesterday we transferred two VMs at a time (srv01 with 1x 40 GB HDD and srv02 with 1x 100 GB HDD + 1x 300 GB HDD). It took over 9 hours! In the quickmigration summary it says the bottleneck is the target. In the job details of srv01 the source and here are the details for srv02 where it says the network ... :=) ... any ideas? Thanks!

Hi

Please do not post log files on the forum (one of our forum rules).
Logs are for support :)
It seems that there is an inconsistency between log and GUI. Probably because network and destination have similar percentage (76/75).
Could you please open a support case and let us know the case number?

Instead of a quick migration, I recommend you to use Veeam Replica Jobs. This will allow you to pre-sync all VMs to the new host.
On the day you have your maintenance window, you perform a planned failover, which is an incremental synchronization.
This keeps the downtime of your VMs very low and allows for better planning instead of waiting for hours.

Thanks
