I have a vcenter cluster (vsphere 4.1) with an ISCSI SAN and I want to move the VMs from it to the local datastore on a stand alone ESXi 5.5 host. Downtime is not an issue. I have the free edition of B&R 7.0 and see that I could run a quick migration or do a file copy of the vmdk files. Is one better/faster than the other? Also, do either of these jobs run through the B&R machine (if the B&R machine is on one side of a VPN tunnel and the ESXi hosts are on the other side is the migration/copy job going to go across the tunnel or will it stay local between the servers)?
Thanks.

Re: quick migration or file copy
If I were you, I would deploy backup server on the other end of VPN connection (production) and use Quick Migration functionality. This way, the traffic will be isolated to production site, and you will avoid manual actions, such as registering/unregistering VMs, etc. Thanks.
