Quick Migration

Post by SimonGreen »

Hi,

Looking for a little advice on the following.

I intend to retire a VM Host shortly and am going to migrate VM's to a new host. I've tested this and all works well.

Once this is complete will I need to reconfigure backup jobs for each of these machines as they are now on a different host?

Regards,

Simon

Hi,

Migration process will use VMware VMotion whenever scenario and VMware licensing allow to do so.

If your VMware vSphere license does not provide support for vMotion and Storage vMotion, or you need to migrate VMs from one standalone (not managed by vCenter) ESXi host to another , Veeam will use its proprietary SmartSwitch technology to relocate VMs. In the latter case your VM will be reregistered and its unique ID will change hence you'll need to reconfigure jobs.

Thank you.
