Quick Migration without shared storage

Post by nicolas.gras »

Hi, i use two ESXi Server 5.0 with Veeam Backup&Replication 6.0 without shared storage.
Both servers are equipped with the same CPU

I test Quick Migration.

I read FAQ, including this :

3. Migrating VM between hosts and storages at the same time. Veeam Quick Migration is used (with SmartSwitch or cold switch depending on source and target hosts CPU compatibility.

In my case, I feel that cold switch is used. The target VM just boot without the elements that were running in source VM.

-Is there something I missed?

-how to vérify if 'SmartSwitch' work?

Thank's,

Regards

Nicolas,

Basically, if your VM is suspended first and you have compatible CPUs then a Quick Migration job should be triggered (without cold switch). It should be possible to verify it via log files and applications state upon VM resume task. If you believe that a cold switch was used, please contact our support team for further troubleshooting.

Thanks.

Cold switch is used when source and target host CPUs are not compatible.
