Retention style switch on existing job?

Post by backupquestions »

If I just upgraded to v10, can I go into any existing backup job and set it to "days" instead of "restore points" and that works fine without a new active full and won't cause any negative impact, no bugs reported doing this etc? I've always wanted it to maintain say 3 weeks, but with Veeam before if you took some "quick backups" the number would grow and retention would remove to match the required number of course. So this new setting would be great to ensure there are 3 weeks back no matter how many restore points.

Right, this is precisely why we added this option. And yes, you can make this change without doing an active full. There are no known issues with this functionality at the moment, and from what I'm hearing it sounds like quite significant number of customers are making this switch. Thanks!
