SQL - Optimize Restore Times (only Changed Data?)
Dear Community,
I have a question regarding possible restore scenarios with VBR.
My MS SQL servers are backed up with VBR.
Databases have about a size of about 300GB.
From time to time we update our application, and therefore also the corresponding database.
Before the update I usually backup the SQL Server with Veeam.
In case of a problem during update, I restore the single database from the last Veeam backup.
In our environment the restore of this 300 GB database takes about 2 hour.
Is there any way to optimize the restore times without changing the infrastructure?
Maybe there is a way that Veeam only restores blocks of the database which have been changed since the last backup? (Differencial)
Thank you,
Chris

Hello,
unfortunately Veeam don't support block based SQL database restore today. We count that as a +1 feature request.
Best regards,
Hannes

In this case reach our support team and let them find the component that slows down db restore. Thanks!

Are you struggling with the same issue? If so, have you reached our support team and let them find the weakest link (in terms of performance) in the backup chain? Thanks!
