Are there plans to implement the capability to back up from storage snapshot/direct SAN access for VVol VMs on Pure Storage FlashArray?

Answer: Yes! Keep a close eye on this in the very short term.

But that was posted on 03.28.2018 so might have been referring to Veeam<->Pure integration more generally.

Is it a VMware limitation? Should I ask Pure Storage?

With VVols, backup is effectively taken from a storage snapshot already. However, Direct SAN Access transport mode is not supported for VVol VMs (VMware limitation). Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. If https://www.veeam.com/kb1054 still applies I'll move some of my proxies to VVol datastores to back up the VMs there using hotadd
