two vcenter, one veeam control
Hello,
I have two different vcenter whitch are independent and connected to one Veeam Control. Is it posible to have two different pools of veeam proxies? First pool of Veeam proxies have network access only to the first vcenter and second pool of Veeam proxies have access to the second vcenter.
Thank you. md

Hi
Do you have mixed backup jobs? ie VM's from both vCenters in any single Backup job?
If so can you split them?
If they are split into jobs that only consists of vms from the same vcenter you can specify which proxies are available for the job by using the 'use backup proxy's specified below option'
Cheers
Kev

Re: two vcenter, one veeam control
Hello,
Kev, thank you for pointing that out!
md, as it was mentioned above you can specify proxy during the job creation (or modify the existing ones).
Under the Storage part suring the Job set up:
Click Choose next to the Backup proxy field to select a backup proxy for the job.
• If you choose Automatic selection, Veeam Backup & Replication will detect backup proxies that are connected to the source datastore and will automatically assign optimal proxy resources for processing VM data.
VMs included in the backup job are processed one by one. Before processing a new VM in the VM list, Veeam Backup & Replication checks available backup proxies. If more than one proxy is available, Veeam Backup & Replication analyzes transport modes that the backup proxies can use for data retrieval, the current workload on the backup proxies to select the most appropriate resource for VM processing.
• If you choose Use the backup proxy servers specified below, you can explicitly select backup proxies that the job can use. It is recommended that you select at least two backup proxies to ensure that the backup job will be performed should one of job backup proxies fail or lose its connectivity to the source datastore.

This also can be implemented by segregating proxy servers access to the corresponding datastores (for example, if you use virtual proxies for hotadd).md.casa wrote:Is it posible to have two different pools of veeam proxies?

Re: two vcenter, one veeam control
Hi,
* each VM has own job
* i dont want to use specific proxy just pool of proxies because of balancing
* automatic detection seems doesnt work correctly. One vcenter works fine, but second on sometimes trying to use Veeam proxy from another pool.

Hi md
you can chose a pool of proxies for the individual jobs by selecting multiple proxies in the setting mentioned above, this will allow balancing.
By doing this it will take the option for selecting a proxy from the other vCenter away from the automation process

Re: two vcenter, one veeam control
There is no such entity as backup proxies pool in Veeam B&R currently. In automatic mode, the most efficient proxy in terms of source data retrieval (according to a number of criteria) is selected.md.casa wrote:* automatic detection seems doesnt work correctly.
