Here's the scenario:
Disk on NAS array has failed. Started migrating machines using QuickMigration to same vmware host but different storage which has been going well. One particular machine (Ubuntu Server 10.04) I successfully migrated to new storage on the same vmware host. However, I needed to restore some files off the latest backup so I tried doing a Restore Guest Files (Other OS) which I have tested in the past and it worked wonderfully. However, this time it failed with the following error:
veeam textfromtar failed file does not exist
A look at the veeam logs gave me the following related entry:
TextFromTar failed (System.Exception)
Client error: File does not exist. File: [\\server\backups\veeam\LINUX\LINUX22014-02-23T200228.vbk].
[25.02.2014 14:33:04] <01> Error Failed to restore file from local backup. VFS link: [summary.xml]. Target file: [MemFs://Tar2Text]. CHMOD mask: [0].
[25.02.2014 14:38:17] <05> Info Removing from cache
So I browsed to the backup repository and sure enough, the file wasn't there. However, another file named LINUX22014-02-24T200420.vbk was there. So I tried rescanning the repository but still no dice. Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks in advance

Re: Unable to perform LinuxFileLevel Restore
Hello,
Kindly please avoid posting log snippets, since it’s against our forum rules. Also, be aware that the team behind this community is not able to help you with debug logs research. As to your issue, then try to use import option for this VBK file. If it is not corrupted it should be added to the backup console for further restore operations.
If nothing helps, please open a support ticket with our technical team directly.
Thanks!

Re: Unable to perform LinuxFileLevel Restore
sorry about that. I was just trying to be as precise as possible so that I could get the best answer possible. Your suggestion worked and I was able to restore the files that I needed after I imported the VBK file. However, now I'm having the reverse problem. Trying to run backups and it gives me this error:
This is the same file it was looking for when I couldn't do the restores. These machines I'm trying to backup are the same machines the backup job was backing up before I did the quick migration to a different store. Now, the same backup job will not run and it gives me this error. I even edited the job and i re-added the machines.
Code: Select all
Storage file '\\server\backups\veeam\LINUX\LINUX2\LINUX22014-02-23T200228.vbk' is missing from host 'This server'.

Re: Unable to perform LinuxFileLevel Restore
Looks like, for some reason, the backup chain data stored in database does not correspond to the realities. And this is not a result of VM migration, but rather some manipulation with backup files in the repository. I would still contact support with this.
