Dear collegues, I would like to ask for your feedback about backup on VMware Infrastructure as a Service.
We run some VMs on OVH Dedicated Cloud, and we run backups using Veeam. However, some Veeam functionalities cannot be used in OVH. Instant Recovery for example cannot be used because we do not have administrative access to storage in the infrastructure and because of that the NFS datastore from backup fails to mount.
Is anyone using Veeam on IaaS infrastructures? What is your provider?

Re: Using Veeam Backup on IaaS
Hey there Allessandro. Typically when it comes to pure IaaS the Service Provider controls the backup process and can allow their tenants some self service capability. Some providers offer additional services where they can request enhanced recovery features like Instant VM Recovery. Typically though, this would be done via a help desk request. I don't know of too many VCSPs that offer automated Instant VM Recovery.
There are ways to granularly allow the backup user enough access permissions to mount the NFS datastore, but it would be something to discuss with OVH.
