Hello,
Since the upgrade to Veeam 9.5 U4, backup of Windows XP VM failes with the following error:
Code: Select all
Error: Failed to call RPC function 'Vss.GetFileFromGADir': Error code: 0x80070003. Failed to invoke func [GetFileFromGADir]: The system cannot find the path specified.. Cannot copy file. Source file: [\\vm.domain.com\ADMIN$\VeeamVssSupport\metadata\VSS\BackupComponents.xml]. Target file: [C:\Windows\{b239e043-ccef-442c-a84e-171ec2df4ad4}\BackupComponents.xml]. CopyFile() failed. Win32 error:The system cannot find the path specified. Code: 3.
VSSAdmin list writers are ok, I see also that the folder "VeeamVssSuport" will be created.
Any ideas?
best regards,
Sarge

I had same problem.
Solution for me: Disable application-aware processing (or setup the backup task with application-aware processing and set "try application processing, but ignore failures" option for this VM).

Hello,
I can confirm we have exactly the same problem since Update 4. It affects our XP guest only.
Error messages points to a wrong file path, which is obviously not available on XP:
Processing VMNAME Error: Cannot copy file. Source file: [\\VMNAME\ADMIN$\VeeamVssSupport\metadata\VSS\BackupComponents.xml]. Target file: [C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\ c24d1763-0eef-4c95-9922-3342faa225fc\BackupComponents.xml]. CopyFile() failed. Win32 error:The system cannot find the path specified. Code: 3
This path does not exist of course.
Please provide a fix for this.

Hi Thomas, as mentioned before in this topic, it is being tracked as a top issue. Please open up a support case so you can get a follow up once the fix is available. For now the workaround is to disable application aware processing.
