VCenter SQL and ESXi Hosts in Lockdown Mode

Hi,

There are lots of posts in the forum about the workaround to achieve Application-Aware processing for the SQL instance running Vcenter. This is to add the ESXi host that the SQL server is on directly into Veeam and then backup the SQL server using this host and not Vcenter.

We are running our SQL on a separate server from Vcenter. However due to security policies all our ESXi hosts are configured in lockdown mode, therefore we cannot log directly onto a host from Veeam to achieve the above fix.

Does this mean that basically we cannot do a Application-Aware backup of our SQL server that runs the Vcenter database instance?
