In a vCloud environment, we are receiving errors regarding VM snapshot consilidation. This started after upgrade from Veeam v7 to v8. But, to be honest, we don't know which Veeam components is generating the message. B&R / Enterprise Portal?
VM xxxxxxxxx (1bdc7671-daa6-49e0-a390-xxxxxxxxxxxxxx) needs snapshot consolidation, but all automatic snapshot consolidation attempts have failed.
Most likely reason is a virtual disk being locked by some external process. Please troubleshoot the locking issue, and initiate snapshot consolidation manually in vSphere Client.
The errors message comes from thin & fast prvisioned vCloud VM's. Fast provisioned means referenced from a golden image, it's not a snapshot. If we would initiate the consilidation, it would meen inflating the vDisk. This is definitely not what we want. Therefore, in a vCloud environment with fast provisioned VM's the logic should be changed.
Kind Regards,
Bastiaan
