Hi all,
Sorry if this has already been asked before, I did do a quick search but couldn't find anything.
We are using vSphere replication to replicate our VMs to a DR site and using SRM for the failover.
When we sync a couple of VMs that are 7TB big, this takes a few days to complete.
The issue is when the sync is happening and Veeam does it daily backup, the VM freezes. The VM is stuck on creating snapshot and during this time the VM is frozen, we can't do anything with the vm i.e. shut it down/ restart etc. only way is to reboot the host as there are locked files, even logging into to host to clear the process doesn't work.
We do not have quiescing enabled.
Does anyone else have this issue? or have i got something configured wrong? Would Veeam replication be better for this case?
Regards
James L

Re: Veeam and vSphere Replication
Hello,
yes, having two software products "fighting" for snapshots is not the ideal solution. I suggest to try Veeam replication, yes
Best regards,
Hannes
