Veeam + Filemaker

Post by ericshonebarger »

Hello All,

My company recently acquired a company that is using filemaker as the company DB.... has anyone had any experience using Veeam to backup a Filemaker database? I'm using internal tools of filemaker to get transaction consistent restores, but I want to use Veeam to get the OS.

One of the admins for the previous company is nervous that it will mess up his database... I can't see veeam doing this... especially if i run it without guest interaction, so please let me know if you have any info.

Thanks!

I don't have any experience with the said product. But I think there should be a list of commands, using which it's possible to freeze/unfreeze db. Then, it's just a matter of setting these command as pre-freeze/post-thaw scripts. This way the application will be quiesced in appropriate fashion prior to snapshot creation, and you will have an application consistent backup.

If it supports VSS, then, it makes sense to leverage Application Aware Image Processing.

Thanks.
