Hi All,
If I only have 1 gig is a VEEAM proxy going to slow down my hot add VMware disk backup? Right now I am doing fiber channel hot add so that there is NO LAN use as I am stuck with some older 1gb switches.
Thanks,
Joe

Re: VEEAM proxy on local SSD hot add backup
Hi Joe,
not sure if I understand you right.
If you use hot add, the vmdk will be mounted to the virtual proxy you have and data the is transferred via LAN to the repository. If the repository is on the same host as the proxy and connected via Fibre channel then it is still “lan free”. Otherwise data will travel over your 1g link.
If you talk about finde channel backup via a physical proxy that has access to the VMware data store, the transport mode is called direct san and the story is the same, data will travel from Fibre Channel to to proxy and via LAN to the repository.
Please let us know what mode you use and what the fact question is!?
Thanks
