Hi,
As a consultant I've been running restorations to GCE using both VBR OnPremise and on GCP and on multiple different VPC/Shared VPC network configurations.
Very recently I found out that my restore jobs were no longer working on a Hub and Spoke network configuration. Where Backup repo is on a dedicated isolated project, VBR either onprem or on a dedicated service project and spoke, restored workloads on various service projects on whatever spoke they belong to.
To find out what the issue were I've setup log level to its max value (6). Therefor I realized that VBR is now using the default Compute Engine service account to be attached to Cloud Build jobs ? First of all as a best practice we always delete the default service accounts in our projects. But anyway I does not make sense to me that suddenly VBR has decided to use GCE SA instead of CloudBuild SA to run cloud build operations ?

Re: Veeam Restore to GCE / Converting disk
Hi paa_
The process is documented in our user guide: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
Required permissions are also documented in the user guide (GCE + Cloud build permissions are required): https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
If you see a different behavior, please contact our support team and let them investigate the logs.
Don't forget to provide us with the case number for our reference.
Best,
Fabian

You should be able to specify your own service account with permission in GCE.Therefor I realized that VBR is now using the default Compute Engine service account to be attached to Cloud Build jobs ? Re: Veeam Restore to GCE / Converting disk
Hi Fabian,
Indeed the recovery behavior has changed from using the cloud build SA to using the compute engine SA. I cannot say for sure but it seems that this is happening since upgrading from 12.1.1.x to 12.1.2.x .
I will try to contact support team
Thanks for reaching out to me
best regards
