Veeam VM --> Physical Proxy

Post by hmartins »

Hi

I have a 3node cluster with a VM with Veeam on it, and a physical server configured as a backup proxy.
I wanto to change this scenario and use the physical management server to install Veeam on it, but before that want to make shure that the fresh install of Veeam on the proxy, wont affect the production scenario.
The desired scenario is to have Veeam on the physical server, to backup the production infrastructure.

Hi HM,

First, welcome to Veeam Community Forums and thanks for posting.

As for the question: you may perform a configuration backup, install B&R server and console on the physical machine, restore configuration, power off the VM for testing purpose and if everything works fine wipe the VM completely.

Thanks

But, when installing veeam on the physical server, this wont affect the backup proxy configuration itself?

Hi HM,

The installer won't allow you to install the B&R components on top of an existing Backup Proxy if you run Update 4a and planning to install the backup server from scratch from 4a ISO. It will be required to uninstall all the existing proxy components from the physical machine, then make a clean installation. During the installation, the installer will install the Proxy components on this physical server. Once you restore the configuration backup it will be required to choose the new proxy instance in the existing jobs.

Thanks
