VMWARE Extents

Post by mralc »

We are currently using Virtual Appliance to backup VMs. We are looking to move to a the physical veeam proxy and use direct SAN Access to get faster backups.

We are using VMware Extents in the environment and want to know if this is supported by Veeam or if anyone is using VMware Extents and direct SAN access?

Hello Alister,

Yes VMware Extents are supported by Veeam, so it should work with Direct SAN mode. Thanks.

[MERGED] Question on direct SAN access

Post by jfargo »

My VMFS datastores are usually 2 LUNs, one from each storage controller. Can the proxy use direct SAN access transport mode to a datastore with multiple extents?

Based on the answer above it should work, do you see any errors when running a backup job in the direct SAN mode?
