One database vendor has set me an advisory regarding a VMware issue with snapshot, the related V;ware kb is:
https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/59216?lang=en_US
We do not use snapshot, at least not on regular basis, bet we do use Veeam regularly and it does use snapshots.
Is Veeam B&R on applicable conditions/releases effected by this issue/bug?
Ciao,
Enrico

Re: VMware SEsparse snapshot issue
Anything that uses snapshots could be affected, however, before spending too much time worrying remember:
This bug has been around since 5.5 for any drives over 2TB
This bug has affected every VM deployed on 6.5 or 6.7
With that in mind the chances of anyone actually running into this before it's patched seem so staggeringly small as to be almost insignificant.
Sure, it's something to watch out for and keep in mind, and absolutely patch when that's available, but I'd wager there are millions of VM's running that snapshot format now and it's only just come to light now there is a problem

Re: VMware SEsparse snapshot issue
I agree with Dave's assessment, this looks very much like a really corner case.
