V11 ignoring CBT from V10?

Post by JRRW »

I upgraded two V10 to V11 today and both have done what amounts to full reads on all VHDX. They say CBT is being used, but jobs that took 5-20 minutes are taking 2-6 hours and transferring roughly the same amount of data as the 5-20 minute jobs.

Is this a known bug or 'feature'? I don't recall seeing this when doing the V10 upgrades.

Luckily these are minor sized servers - under 10TB - my next two I planned on doing have VMs in the 20-30TB range, which could cause RPO issues. As it is we've violated a few 2-hour RPOs

@Mildur that looks what I'm seeing - mostly on large file servers. Smaller servers don't seem to have had it happen to it.

That's super annoying and def something that should be in release notes or known issues.

Edit: Gostev's Issue Tracker at least update this?

It is not a issue. I don't think, it needs to be on the Issue Tracker Page.
It is normal behavior, which wasn't documented good enough. It should be in the release notes for the new version, that when you update, the next backup can be an full rescan of the entire vm.
We have to life with that :)
