object was not found

Post by blodsbror »

Hi,

I had to recreate a VM in Hyper-V (create a new one with blank disks and then attach the old disks). However now, when trying to backup the VM I get 'object was not found' and the VM fails.
I've read through the forums, and tried removing the VM from the job - re-scanning the Hyper-V host (actually I re-scanned them all), and then re-adding the VM to the job. But I still get the same error.
If I try to re-calculate the job, it works fine, and reports the size of the VM correctly.

Any further ideas or things to try here ?

Thanks!

Hello Evan,

Have you rescanned Hyper-V volumes too, like it is described over here?

Thank you!

Hi!

Thanks for the reply. No I haven't actually, can try that now. Just out of curiosity - I thought that Veeam was meant to automatically do that each night ?

Yes, as far as I remember these tasks are scheduled to run every day. Did you wait for this time?

What actually fixed this, was adding individual clusters to Veeam -instead of using SCVMM and populating all of the hosts/clusters. I then recreated the jobs from scratch, which made things run smoothly.

In this case virtual infrastructure topology was collected from scratch, that is why you didn't see the same error message. I still wonder what was the reason for this issue in the first configuration...
