Re: Integration with Storage Snapshots : Vendor Roadmap
I agree, nice to see NetApp support on top of the HP from last year. Personally I am waiting for Nimble Storage support as I feel the products complement each other very well in the SMB market.
Maybe one of the Veeam guys can throw up a Poll (like the VM size one here http://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-re ... 21345.html) asking us the the users, what platform support is 'required'. Also lot of work has to be done at the SAN vendor end too, in order for this to work correctly - we should all continue to remind those guys that we would like Veeam integration.

I did exactly that before we started working on this functionalitynickfurnell wrote:Maybe one of the Veeam guys can throw up a Poll
[POLL] What is your PRODUCTION storage for virtualization
Quite expectedly, poll results are inline with the market share, leaving those "little guys" no chance to compete with the demand for support of market leading storage vendors...

[MERGED] Please add Nimble support!
I know you guys are working hard on this but please move up the development of direct snapshot control over Nimble arrays up in your stack. We would absolutely LOVE to become Veeam customers but need this to be completed.
Thank you

You may still want to try Veeam even without the integration, as we have hundreds of happy customers with Nimble storage today.

Re: Integration with Storage Snapshots : Vendor Roadmap
Do you know if there is any possibility that support will be added to backing up NetAPP CIFS shares with the release of version 8? It would be great to backup NETAPP CIFS snapshots and have the ability to restore (with permissions). Do you if any work has been done on this front?

Re: Integration with Storage Snapshots : Vendor Roadmap
Why not? What's the use of SDS if they do not support anything? We have DataCore and Starwind, both cannot use storage snapshots with veeam, that's a shame...

Re: Integration with Storage Snapshots : Vendor Roadmap
Hi, Guido. Veeam is the global company, so we are looking at the global market share - instead of one in specific countries, and DataCore is not anywhere close to the global top 5. Just want to make sure no one has false expectations here. Thanks!

Re: Integration with Storage Snapshots : Vendor Roadmap
I'd like to put my vote in for EqualLogic integration.
I have read the threads saying that Veeam have found EqualLogic snapshots to be lower performance than other vendors. While that might be the case; it doesn't mean there aren't a lot of people using EqualLogic hardware, and snapshots, that would greatly benefit from integration with Veeam.
We use EqualLogic snapshots extensively, with no performance issues I am aware of. They do use up a lot of space, but we like the feature set and price mark of the EqualLogics and so accept this.
Dell also have decent mark share; around 10% according to IDC; ahead of NetApp.

Re: Integration with Storage Snapshots : Vendor Roadmap
Tom, bullet 3 from my list on the first page is equally important, but I don't expect Dell supporting us in this endeavor, because we are highly competitive in the backup space these days. They now have 3 backup solutions to sell

The competition aspect is fair enough - HP do backup software too don't they? Not much market traction though I don't think.Gostev wrote:Tom, bullet 3 from my list on the first page is equally important, but I don't expect Dell supporting us in this endeavor, because we are highly competitive in the backup space these days. They do, but not for SMB or mid-market like Veeam. Which is why we get along so nicelyTWBrowning wrote:The competition aspect is fair enough - HP do backup software too don't they? Not much market traction though I don't think.
Dell's solutions are in direct competition with B&R though, unfortunately.

[MERGED] : Pure Storage Snapshots support
Hello and Good Day Veeam Community....
With the newest releases I see Veeam supporting using snapshots from various vendors as a backup source. These are great enhancements considering how easy it is for most storage vendors to perform these snapshots and how it has no impact to production virtual machines. My organization is a big Pure Storage customer, and have really loved using their snapshot features....are they any plans to integrate with Pure Storage snapshots in the future? (Please? )

Chris,
Unfortunately, Nimble storage support will not available in v8, but you vote is counted for the next version integrations. Thank you.

Re: Integration with Storage Snapshots : Vendor Roadmap
If this is still a topic, I would like to throw another name out there. We use Nimble Storage. A hybrid flash array that has a pretty slick snapshot engine. It would be great to integrate Veeam which we use for backup and replication,
