Odd display in Disk I/O screen

Post by readie »

I use the Datastores/Disk I/O screen quite a lot to monitor our rather aged (and overcrowded) datastores!
The three drop-downs to the right, 'Chart Options', 'Chart Views', and 'Period' are quite short boxes, and do not show the whole text. The worst is the Chart Views which always shows 'Disk/ESXi Datasto' . . . . . which doesn't indicate which of the 7 views I am actually looking at. I have to use the dropdown to remind myself.
I am using a 1920 x 1080 resolution screen - is this the problem?
It's more than just a niggle, though not a show-stopper.

Hello Bob,
I use the same screen resolution and can confirm that Chart view name in a Datastore doesn`t fit its window. However, chosen value is shown above the graphics, so it`s not difficult to find out which of the graphics is on the screen.
Anyway your feedback is valid, thank you for that and sorry for the inconvenience. We will think how to solve it.

Whoops - sorry. As usual, finding so much detail on screen I concentrated on the bits I know, and failed to notice the obvious!!! Thanks for pointing it out.

Still looking at Disk Latency (while I do a Storage VMotion) when I look at a Datastore I can only choose Read Latency OR Write Latency. If I look at a VM, I can choose 'Latency' which shows read and write on the same graph.
Feature Request - might we have this option for Datastores as well as VMs?

Latency stacked graph which we are talking about implies a sum several objects(Hosts, VMs), but not the sum of several metrics(Read, Write latency).
If you want to see both latencies in the same window, please pick a datastore and take a look at the summary tab.
Thanks.
