Veeam One monitoring, making vcenter CPU busy
Hi
Our Veeam One monitor seems to be making the CPU's on our vCenter 5.5 Appliance work overtime, postgres process is always high.
Is this a know error? We haven't upgraded to Update 2 yet.
Thanks

Do you see during initial data collection or during normal working hours?

Re: Veeam One monitoring, making vcenter CPU busy
Normal working hours, flipping from 50-100%
There are 2 cores on my vcenter, one core is constantly busy with 1 instance of postgres , so the server ticks along at 50%, then another instance of postgres fires up on the 2nd core and makes the vcenter go 100% for about 10 mins, then goes down for about 6 mins before repeating.
so it looks like this _----___----__----__----
I have a ticket open with VMware about this.

Hi Mark,
Have you checked (i.e. in Task Manager) how much CPU Veeam One Monitor process consumes?
Do you have any activity scheduled like reporting or something?
Thanks.

What happens if you switch off Veeam ONE? Do you see the same load on the CPU resources?

Re: Veeam One monitoring, making vcenter CPU busy
Hi, sorry for the late reply as I thought it fixed it, but today it came back after I restarted the Veeam One server. Yes, the CPU goes when I turn off Veeam One.
Originally I fixed it by excluding all hosts and then adding them one at a time, as instructed by KB http://www.veeam.com/kb1649
So rebooted this morning, and I got a "Performance data collection failure" in Veeam One and by vcenter CPU is 100% again.
This must be a bug, as I shouldn't have to exclude all hosts and add them again after a server restart.
vcenter is the VCA version 5.5, 2646482

Hello Mark,
You are right, you should not go through all the hosts every time.
Have you created/changed registry keys values as stated in the KB?
I would also suggest to contact Veeam technical support. Thanks!
