Copy and a restore
Help! I have just got my company to spend lots of money on a new NAS so I can copy my veeam backups offsite. I have just set this up and it copying OK but at the same time I need to do a restore but I get the error ‘This restore point is already mounting’. Does this mean I can’t do a backup or restore while a copy is running. If so then Veeam isn’t too good for me as I don’t have enough hours in the day (or night) to do a copy as well as a backup.
I really don’t want to start using xcopy as this is a housing keeping nightmare. Any advice?

Re: Copy and a restore
Rob, could you please describe the scenario in a bit more details? Basically, backup copy job opens source files for reading only, which does not prevent the ability to restore from them.

Hello Rob, it`s recommended to use backup copy job instead of manual copying. Did you use it?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Copy and a restore
I'm doing a backup copy job and as it says its running a backupsync and when I attempt to do a file restore I get ‘This restore point is already mounting’; reading your comment gives me hope as its obviously not by design; I'll do some further investigating! Thank you. I'll try a reboot when the copy has finished, touch wood the backup will run tonight otherwise I will have to stop\start the server services as 'stop session' is greyed out.

Re: Copy and a restore
Are you trying to restore from the backup created by the regular backup job ar backup copy job? What particular restore point?

Regular backup, the latest one, the backup copy has only just started (first ever).

Then there should not be issues with restore. Probably logs investigation would be required.

Backups wouldn't run last night while the copy was running they were all pending and after a reboot this morning the restore was still as above, ahhhhhhh.

Re: Copy and a restore
Rob, the behavior you are describing is not expected, backup copy jobs should not affect neither backup nor restore activity.
Please contact Veeam Technical support for the logs investigation. Thanks!

Veeam case no 00926463. I'm told its by design but I'll see what they say when they ring back.

Re: Copy and a restore
Rob, from your case I can see you're still on v7. We were not able to reproduce this with v8, so this looks like just another reason to upgrade.
