Does the Configuration Backup include the Session History?

Does the Configuration Backup feature include the complete Session History in its backup?

I've read the Performing Configuration Backup and Restore section on pages 509-515 in the Veeam B&R v7 User Guide, but there is no mention of Session History in this section.

I've also read this forums post, but in it no Veeam rep specifically and definitively states whether Session History is included in the Configuration Backup.

For auditing reasons, it's important for us to have Session History data included in our backups of the Veeam server. The answer to this question may determine whether the Configuration Backup feature is sufficient for our Veeam server backups, or if we'll need to back up the whole Veeam server (or at least its complete SQL database).

Right now, we do not back it up only to reduce the configuration backup size and especially restore times, as the history can be huge. How much history do you really care to get back with the configuration restore? What if we backed up and restored the history, but only last X days (records)? Thanks.

Thanks for the questions. We would prefer to have at least one year of the history included in the Configuration Backup. It was a struggle convincing management to not maintain separate auditing systems of our backups, but rely instead on Veeam's Session History. We actually set all of our Veeam servers to "Keep all sessions" in the History options.

For us, bigger and slower configuration backups/restores would not be a problem, because having the Session History data is much more important than the size and speed of the backup/restore.

Perhaps the Configuration Backup could be enhanced to provide customers the option to included Session History for X days? Customers could then decide for themselves whether including the Session History is worthwhile, knowing the pros and cons. Is it too late for this to be added to Veeam B&R 7.5?

Also, perhaps the User Guide could be updated to clearly state that the Session History is not included in the Configuration Backup.

Currently, historical data is not preserved. You need to migrate the entire database or use Veeam ONE for historical data reporting on Veeam backup.
