Restore backups from pre-release version

Post by CedricD »

Hi,

I want to restore a backup taken with the beta version of Veeam Endpoint Backup.
I'm getting the error: Restoring backups created with pre-release versions of Veeam Endpoint Backup is not supported.
Can I somewhere download the beta version? Or is there a workaround for this?
I only need to restore a few files. Not the whole computer.

Thanks!

Hello Cedric,
I've sent you a PM with the download link. Please, consider using the BETA only for restore purposes since it’s not supported any longer. Thanks.

Shared a link with you via PM. Have a good restore and do not forget to replace the BETA code with GA once your files are resorted.

Worked like a charm - after I followed the guide to manually remove all remains of previous Endpoint installations here ( http://forums.veeam.com/post143558.html ... ll#p143558 )

Thanks - and GA is being installed again, as soon as I have all the necessary files from the old backup. Thanks again for your help.

Dima,
I'm in the same boat. All my backups were done with Beta. Machine took a nose dive, went to restore, but get "Restoring backups created with pre-release versions of Veeam Endpoint Backup is not supported" I don't have a copy of the beta anymore. What are my options?

Hi Paul,
I’ve sent you the download link – check your forum inbox please. Friendly reminder that RC is no longer supported, so the version is share only for restore purposes. As soon as restore is completed please get back to the GA code. Thanks

Hello,

Just out of curiosity while waiting till Dima replies - why didn't do any backups with the RTM code of Veeam Endpoint Backup which has been released this spring? Trying to come up with a reason for this ;)

Thank you!

Hi,

I would also like to have the download link to the beta version for restore purposes.
Thanks!

BTW: Wouldn't it be much simpler if the link(s) would be published to the public?
I mean that its no longer supported is clear and everyone here googled this thread, so people reading this have all the same problem...

I believe the main reason not to publish it for everyone is not to endorse downloading it and then using it instead of the GA code.

Shared a link - please check the forum's PM inbox. Indeed we do not publish the retired versions to make sure that people won’t use it. Moreover, BETA is not upgradable, BETA backups are not supported in the GA as you can see. Thus it must be used only for restore purposes and then must be replaced with the latest available version.

P.S. and of course we realize the Endpoint helps you to recover your data. It’s not an actual reason, more likely a positive feedback that there is a room on your machine for Veeam Endpoint Backup Free
